The CARE Social Ventures Internship
CARE is a major international humanitarian agency delivering emergency relief and long-term international development projects. CARE Social Ventures (CSV) focuses on converting local philanthropic programs into financially sustainable social enterprises. The goal of these programs is to transition aid-based efforts fighting global poverty into social businesses. The topics covered by this internship include methods to scale small to medium sized enterprises, building financial sustainability for social ventures, evaluating country-specific economic realities to create policy recommendations for development, gender inclusivity and problem solving for a variety of economic challenges faced by existing social ventures. In addition to working on each of these topics, the internship includes a language element as many of the social ventures are located in Latin America and require an understanding of the Spanish language. The projects covered by this internship are based in Palestine, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia and a handful of countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Women and
public policy program
The Women and Public Policy Program of Harvard Kennedy School advances women and gender equity in economic opportunity, political participation, and education by creating knowledge, training leaders, and informing public policy and organizational practices.
The Cultural Bridge Fellowship at the Women and Public Policy Program allow students to couple their academic knowledge with real-world experience in the field. Fellows work with an organization on equity and gender-focused issues. Organizations and governments host Fellows to work as program analysts, trainers, and researchers.
Thank you for the generous support of the The Germeshausen Foundation and The Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School for allowing me to take on the internship at CARE Social Ventures.
